How I Love The Seasons In The Poitou-Charentes

There is a definite sense of the passing of each season in the Charente, winter turns early in the year into spring which rapidly becomes summer.  Reluctantly the long summer meets autumn. Being a real country girl the seasons are important to me as I spend most of my working hours and free time outside.

I chose this region of France because of its mild climate and its long summers and for the unspoilt scenery. To say that summertime and the living is easy is not an understatement in our beautiful Charente. It is my favourite time of the year, the long evenings allow me to go riding my horse after work, accompanied by my trusted Labrador. I believe that they are both enjoying those hacks in the countryside as much as I do, there is always the added pleasure for my dog to jump into the cool waters of the Charente, she is after all, happy like a ‘Labrador in water’!

These moments are precious to me and will be remembered fondly in the winter months, it also enables me to hunt out some little farms or properties for sale with an « à vendre » (For Sale) sign on the gate. I am always on the lookout for special un-renovated  properties for sale, it is exiting when I find a little gem tucked away in the countryside.

I must confess, but feel proud, that I do feel privileged to be able to live in such a lovely area and to have a job in the Estate Agency which allows me to enjoy it fully. Being at work or on my horse I am surrounded every day by such beauty.
